Hiking trails are everywhere on the Big Island.
Hilo Arboretum: [Distance: Up to hikers, Time: At
least 30 to 45 minutes, Difficulty level: easy to moderate] Wander
through this forest that contains non-native trees which, up until
a few years ago, were being tested for their usefulness to Hawaii.
Many visitors claim this is the most tranquil place in Hilo and it
is great for picnics and relaxation. Located northeast of the
Kawili St. and Kilauea Av. Intersection. Keep your eyes open
because the entrance is not very well marked.
