Six miles outside of Hilo on Saddle Road lies Kaumana Cave, a lava tube that stretches for miles into the dark abyss. The parking lot is on the left so you must park and walk across the road to the County Park. The cool, damp cave is a great escape from the afternoon heat of Hilo. The park offers a picnic gazebo, restrooms, and water. If you venture into the cave, make sure you bring a flashlight!
