Located just behind the bronze statue of King Kamehameha and approximately
five minutes from the resort, Wailoa center’s circular exhibition
center showcases the works of local artists in shows that change
monthly. The center also exhibits an impressive display of photographs
documenting the 1946 and 1960 tsunamis that severely impacted Hilo.
The 12-foot high bronze statue of King Kamehameha I that was crafted
in Italy in the late 1980s, and now resides on the ocean side of
Wailoa center is a popular photo stop for visitors.
