What could be better then studying in paradise? University
of Hawaii at Hilo, the second largest division of the University
of Hawaii system, provides a great atmosphere to pursue a higher
education through small class sizes, hands-on learning, and natural
island laboratories. The largely diverse student population
and a caring staff make this a unique and enjoyable place to continue
your education.
Founded as Hawaii Vocational College in 1947, UHH has grown into
a full scale facility offering 35 undergraduate and 3 graduate degree
programs. UHH is one of the top colleges in the country
to study marine biology, volcanology, astronomy, and Hawaiian studies
all of which have won numerous awards. Not only does
the university offer educational programs, it also urges students
to get involved with activities and cultural aspects around the Big
Island.
Slowly, people are beginning to discover this well-kept secret with
enrollment steadily increasing each year. Yet, with over 3,000
enrolled students, UHH still seems to always have that small, private
college feel to it. One can only assume it must be the
Aloha Spirit which is present in the classroom as well as in every
student’s heart.
