This trail begins near Volcano House and offers wondrous views of Kilauea caldera.  This trail passes a section of Crater Rim Drive that was cracked and destroyed in 1983 by a magnitude 6.6 earthquake. Keep hiking and you will enter the thriving greenery of the rainforests. This is a wonderful hike for those who are timid about walking on a caldera floor, but want to experience it momentarily at a safe distance.
